Entrance Requirements

Academic requirements for admission
As a general rule, the entry requirements for admission to a Bachelor‘s programme are the same university entrance qualifications foreign students require to enter the same type of academic degree programme in their home country. An overview of the academic qualifications required for admission to German universities of applied sciences for some countries, can be found in English here. For more detailed information refer to the Anabin database of the Central Office for Foreign Education.

Evaluation of academic qualifications at Center for International Students - Constance
The qualifications of all foreign students applying for Bachelor degree programmes must be evaluated and recognized by the Center for International Students, Constance (Studienkolleg) before application to HFU. Applications will not be accepted until this has been carried out. Details on how to go about doing this can be found here. If evaluation is not successful, preparatory courses are offered to bring qualifications up to the required standard. More information on these courses can be found here.

Applicants who hold a German university entrance qualification (so-called Bildungsinländer) are treated as German citizens and are subject to the normal application and admissions procedures.

Applicants to the International Business Management programme do not have to carry out the evaluation procedure themselves. This is done for them by the university upon application.

More detailed information regarding entrance requirements can be found under individual degree programmes and under Application - Bachelor Programmes.

Deadlines at the "Studienkolleg" are as follows:
1 November
for the following summer semester
1 May
for the following winter semester

Please allow plenty of time for the recognition process.

International applicants from outside the EU who are interested in pursuing a full degree at Furtwangen University have a 10% quota of places set aside for them in degree programmes with restricted entry. This does not apply to master's programmes or any degree programmes with an international focus (currently IBM). Places for the IBM degree programme are divided equally between non-EU and EU applicants (incl. German nationals).
