The interdisciplinary Music Design degree programme offered by the Faculty of Digital Media of Furtwangen University in cooperation with the Trossingen University of Music (Musikhochschule Trossingen) aims to combine media competence with artistic and musical potential. The programme was developed to address the new challenges in the music and media markets.
The Faculty of Digital Media is well-known for its expertise in media, media development, and media design; the Trossingen University of Music, for its musical and artistic creativity. The Music Design degree programme combines these strengths.
Budding music composers learn how to integrate digital media into their work and musical practice so that it becomes a natural part of their artistic output. Digital Media Students at Furtwangen University can also take a wide variety of musical and artistic Music Design modules from the Trossingen University of Music as part of their degree programme.

The Music Design degree programme is an 8-semester course. Graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Music (B.Mus) by the Trossingen University of Music. A degree in Music Design prepares you for a career in the fields of both music and media.
As one of a small group of maximum 15 students, you will take courses in composition, sound design, aural training and psychoaccoustics, as well as media management and marketing. You will gain an interdisciplinary understanding of the conflicting areas of art and business, music and media, artistic expression and technology, theory and practice.
For the first time in Germany, the laptop is accepted as a musical and acoustic instrument in its own right in the application to study at a music conservatory. What is important is your artistic talent so you can be as unconventional as you like. You do not even have to be able to read music.
The application deadline is 15 July every year for start in the winter semester (October).
