Industrial Materials Engineering focuses on the use of modern materials in all technological areas of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and medical engineering. This interdisciplinary degree programme, Industrial Materials Engineering focuses on the areas of materials science and testing, manufacturing engineering, construction, polymers, ceramics and metals, as well as surface and nanotechnology. You will explore the properties of various materials and use their expertise to develop new materials.

Industrial materials engineering graduates work in a variety of industries. The requirement for constant optimization of processes and products as well as increased quality and cost-effectiveness must be answered in part with the targeted use of materials. Nowadays, the macroscopic and microscopic properties of materials can be very precisely adjusted to individual applications.
Materials engineers simulate material behaviour, optimize production processes and monitor quality. They advise customers on material selection, evaluate the quality of raw materials from suppliers, and analyse production errors and customer complaints.
Industrial materials engineering graduates work primarily in business and industry, laboratories, research and development, and universities or other educational institutions in the following fields:
