Curriculum Vitae

Christophe Kunze studied Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technologies (KIT) and at the University of Saarbr├╝cken in Germany. He received a Dipl. Ing. (M. Sc.) degree from KIT in 2000 and his PhD (Dr. Ing.) from the same university in 2005. The subject of his dissertation was on the application of ubiquitous computing in the field of personal health monitoring (Ubiquitous Healthcare). From 2005 to 2011, he led the Embedded Systems and Sensors Engineering research division at FZI Research Centre for Information Technologies. During that time, he was working in several European and national research projects as researcher and project manager as well as in several industrial R&D projects. Since 2011, he is working as a professor for Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) Systems for the Applied Health Sciences department at Furtwangen University.

Research

Christophe Kunze's research interests cover a broad range of applications of information technologies in healthcare and social care, including ambient assisted living, telemedical applications, health and nursing information systems and personal health. Current research projects focus on

  • Context acquisition and situation awareness in smart environments
  • Long-term monitoring of activities of daily living
  • Wearable and mobile personal health monitoring
  • Web- and Cloud-based IT support for professional and informal care
