Welcome to Furtwangen University in Germany’s Black Forest

We welcome students from over 80 different countries to our three campuses in Furtwangen, Villingen-Schwenningen and Tuttlingen. We offer high-quality degree programmes in German and English and have established cooperative partnerships with more than 140 universities around the world. All of our bachelor’s degree programmes include a six-month industrial placement. Projects and thesis work are usually undertaken in collaboration with our industry partners.
The International Center provides advice and support to all of our international guests – exchange students from our partner universities, students enrolled in full-time bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes, visiting professors, and visitors. Our aim is to make you feel at home and support you throughout your studies to help you achieve your goals.
Two weeks before the start of the lecture period, an orientation programme for new international students takes place on the Furtwangen and Villingen-Schwenningen campuses. It includes an intensive German language course, as well as help with all kinds of administrative matters such as enrolment, health insurance, and registration at the town hall. Participation in the orientation programme is compulsory for exchange students and students who are enrolled in degree programmes taught in English.
During each semester, a number of excursions and events are organised by the International Center and the International Student Community. The International Center also runs a Buddy programme and a Host Family Programme for those who would like to make contact with German families.
