The HFU scholarship for a period of study abroad with children is financed with funds from the Female Professors Programme. This national and state programme aims to promote the equality of women and men in universities, to sustainably improve the representation of women at all levels in the academic system and to raise the number of female academics in top academic positions (BMBF 2013).

In the globalized world, increasing numbers of students wish to carry out an exchange semester or internship abroad. A period of time spent abroad will increasingly become part of our Bachelor's and Master's programmes as foreign experience can improve the career opportunities of our graduates. This is much harder for students with children, from both an organizational and a financial point of view.

Furtwangen University has a long record of supporting students with children. With the HFU "Semester abroad with Kids" scholarship, two "courageous" female students every year will be supported with funding in the amount of €3000 each.
