International Festival prizewinners - Kenya and Cameroon

The International Festival is the highlight of the International Days event, which took place on the Furtwangen Campus from 24 - 26 October 2016. Visitors at the well-attended event enjoyed the dance shows and the culinary specialities offered on the beautifully decorated stands, all organized by HFU students from around the world. In total, 19 different nations took part. The winners of the prize for the best representation of their country this year were Kenya and Cameroon. India won second prize and third prize went to Turkey and the Kurdish community.

The PROFIN prizegiving ceremony takes place during the International Festival. Approximately 15% of all students at HFU are foreign. This includes foreign students who have grown up in Germany and students who have come to Germany to study, both as full-time students and as exchange students who come for one or two semesters. Through events such as these, the International Center aims to help these students to feel at home here at HFU and are actively supported in their goals by many German students. The PROFIN prize is awarded annually to students who have provided outstanding support to their fellow students from abroad. This year the winners of the prize and the €500 prize money were Lea Antonia Varga and Carsten Hennig. Through the various events for German and foreign students which they have organized, they have provided a platform for cultural exchange and thus improved the integration of foreign students at HFU.
