Centre for Microtechnology and System Integration
The Centre of expertise for Microtechnology and System Integrations (ZeMiS) was set up between 2003 and 2005 through the "Centres for Applied Research at Universities of Applied Science" programme of the Ministry for Research and the Arts. Under the coordination of Furtwangen University, 4 universities of applied sciences, 1 university and a research institute have joined forces, using their combined research capabilities in the areas of microengineering and system integration to solve complex problems which face industry.
ZeMiS is thus the cooperation and contact partner for SMEs in Baden-Württemberg for the application-related realization of microengineering systems solutions. The research work of ZeMiS is carried on at Furtwangen University under the Smart Systems area of research.
Goals and Mission
- R&D services for SMEs in the development of miniaturized systems and in the use of microengineering
- Advice and support in the implementation of R&D work in innovative products (feasibility, support, market potential, risk analysis, preparation and execution of large projects...)
- Lowering of the barriers to entry for SMEs through participation of universities of applied sciences
- Connection of practice and theoretical principles through network of universities of applied science, university and non-university research institute.
