R & D Projects
The "Mechatronics and High-Frequency Power Electronics" specialist area of the Applied Mechatronics and System Design Lab is well-equipped to cover a broad spectrum of tasks, and is therefore well-prepared for diverse R&D activities, including those which involve significant amounts of design work.
Successful past projects:
1.) HF based plastics-forming equipment with industry transfer partner,
European patent, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) funding over Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) from 1.2.2011-30.9.2012,
robot-supported industrial forming press realized and sold.
2.) Automatic testing device for dielectric plastics processing with industry transfer partner,
Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) funding over Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) from 1.10.2012-30.3.2014,
currently available for customer testing by our industrial transfer partners (see 1. above)
3.) Innovative lithium accumulator and supercap energy storage with synchronous convertors, Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (MWK-BW) funding from 1.6.2013-31.3.2014; Project successfully technically completed, currently seeking industrial application.
4.) Plastics analysis service with automatic testing device (see 2. above), offered since 3/2014;
serves to safeguard the HF-based plastics shaping process (see 1. above) by means of accelerated endurance tests, etc. as well as HF-electronic, caloric and mechanical measurement of customer material samples (further tests are possible in collaboration with the Materials Lab on the Tuttlingen Campus).

R&D projects currently in preparation (funding applied for):
6.) Further development of a plastics analysis system for the process assurance of innovative dielectric forming processes and the improvement of materials recycling (2014-17):
optimization of aggregates in the plastic raw materials for the new much faster, dielectric heating process and for better recycling.
