Sixteen percent of HFU students are non-German, but of course some students were actually born in Germany. Others have come to HFU as full-time students or as guest students for one or two semesters. The International Center helps foreign students settle in to student life in Germany as quickly as possible, but rely on the help of German students to make this possible. Every year the HFU awards the PROFIN prize to a student who has given outstanding assistance to their fellow students from abroad. The prize and €500 in prize money is funded by the HFU Development Association. This year the prize was awarded to Felix Wursthorn and Facundo Gonzalez Ramirez who have both worked hard to support the integration of international students. Facundo Gonzalez Ramirez is from Argentina and is studying International Business Management. As a student assistant at the International Center, he was a valuable contact person for international students. Felix Wursthorn is studying Product Engineering in the Faculty of Business Administration and Engineering and heads up the International Student Community in Furtwangen, organizing many events such as excursions or nights out for German and international students.
