Coordination of care, situative support and crisis management in the care of intensive care and technology dependent patients

The aim of the project is the development of new human-technology interaction systems and the relevant care processes and structures, which:

  • offer technical options for situative support in crisis situations (at various levels for both professional and non-professional carers)
  • ensure efficient coordination of members of the care network, at the same time making quality assurance instruments available over mobile, IT-supported care management tools
  • give the carers and patients opportunities for exchange and mutual experience, thus offering psychosocial support and promoting wellbeing.

Using case studies, two areas of application will be looked at, both of which are characterized by specialist requirements entailing a high level of care and reliance on technical devices: home respiration during outpatient intensive care and specialist outpatient palliative care. In doing so the following should be integrated as support in crisis situations:

  • situative availability of modular knowledge (e.g. video instructions)
  • accessible, situative support and assistance particularly related to problems with technical devices
  • availability of options for synchonous and asynchonous communication with members of the care network
  • approaches for the automatic recognition of crisis situations and initial approaches
